The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) was a U.S. government agency dedicated to researching complementary and alternative health practices. Established in 1991, it aimed to rigorously investigate the safety and effectiveness of these approaches, ultimately contributing to a more integrated healthcare landscape. In 2014, NCCAM was renamed the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) to better reflect the common use of integrative approaches.
