Temasek is an early recorded name of a settlement on the site of modern Singapore, appearing in Malay, Javanese, Yuan, and Ming Chinese documents. The name has been associated with two distinct settlements, Long Ya Men and Ban Zu, and continues to feature prominently in modern Singapore. Today, Temasek is also the name of a major investment company, [[temasek-holdings|Temasek Holdings]], which manages the Singapore government's investments.
